Florida law does not require all physicians to carry malpractice insurance, but it does require proof of financial responsibility in the event of a claim.
Physicians can meet this requirement by:

  • Purchasing malpractice insurance with minimum limits of $100,000 per claim / $300,000 aggregate, or
  • Posting a surety bond or escrow account for the same amount.
Most hospitals, surgery centers, and medical groups still require active malpractice coverage, which is where MEDPLI helps physicians find affordable, compliant policies.
