Frequently Asked Questions
Is malpractice insurance mandatory for Kansas physicians?
Yes. Unlike many states, Kansas law (K.S.A. 40-3402) requires doctors to carry a minimum of $500,000 per claim / $1,500,000 aggregate coverage as a condition of active licensure. Physicians must also pay into the state’s Health Care Stabilization Fund (HCSF), which provides supplemental coverage and free tail coverage for eligible providers.
